Molecular Weight Dependent Kernels in Generalized Mixing Rules

چکیده

In this paper, a model is proposed for the kernel in the generalized mixing rule recently formulated by Anderssen and Mead (1998). In order to derive such a model, it is necessary to take account of the rheological significance of the kernel in terms of the relaxation behaviour of the individual polymers involved. This leads naturally to consider a way how additional physical effects, which depend on the molecular weight distribution, can be included in the mixing rule. The advantage of this approach is that, without changing the generality derived by Anderssen and Mead (1998), the choice of the model proposed here for the kernel guarantees the enhanced physical and rheological significance of their mixing rule. ∗Author to whom all correspondence should be addressed. Gauss-Jacobi-type quadrature rules for fractional directional integrals

Fractional directional integrals are the extensions of the Riemann-Liouville fractional integrals from oneto multi-dimensional spaces and play an important role in extending the fractional differentiation to diverse applications. In numerical evaluation of these integrals, the weakly singular kernels often fail the conventional quadrature rules such as Newton-Cotes and Gauss-Legendre rules. It ...

Generalized relation between surface tension and viscosity: a study on pure and mixed n-alkanes

A generalized relation is presented to correlate liquid–vapor surface tension with viscosity, both for pure compounds and mixtures. Plots of different data sets verify that the natural logarithm of the surface tension is linear with the reciprocal viscosity, with slope-dependent on the molecular weight and constant intercept for n-alkanes with chain length greater than n-C10H22. For these, the ...

Evaluation of Models Combining Rheological Data with the Molecular Weight Distribution

SYNOPSIS The aim of this article is to test and to improve existing models combining rhe-ological data with the molecular weight distribution (MWD). This process of testing and improving was separated into two distinct steps: First, the mixing behavior of the relaxation modulus obtained from a polymer blend was investigated and compared with the proposed mixing behavior derived from the linear ...

Prediction of Vapor-Liquid Equilibria Using CEOS /GE Models

The present study investigates the use of different GE mixing rules in cubic equations of state for prediction of phase behavior of multicomponent hydrocarbon systems. To predict VLE data in multicomponent symmetric and asymmetric mixtures such as systems that contain light gases (nitrogen, carbon dioxide, etc.) and heavy hydrocarbons, the SRK equation of state has been combined with excess Gib...

Generalized Augmentation of Multiple Kernels

Kernel combination is meant to improve the performance of single kernels and avoid the difficulty of kernel selection. The most common way of combining kernels is to compute their weighted sum. Usually, the kernels are assumed to exist in independent empirical feature spaces and therefore were combined without considering their relationships. To take these relationships into consideration in ke...
